Internet speed tests are commonly used to evaluate wireless network performance. However, throughput measurements alone do not reflect the real quality of a Wi-Fi network. This technical report explains why conventional speed tests fail to capture critical factors that influence real-world wireless performance, including signal quality, interference, roaming behaviour, retransmissions, and infrastructure constraints. The report provides a conceptual analysis of the limitations of speed testing in Wi-Fi environments and highlights the need for structured methodologies for evaluating wireless network quality.
