“Protect yourself, sir!”: About the dissertational culture of the scientific community of historians in pre-revolutionary Russia

Авторы исследуют нормативно-правовые, институциональные, методологические, коммуникативные и коммеморативные аспекты защиты диссертаций по историческим разрядам наук в дореволюционной России, прослеживают становление практик подготовки и защиты диссертации как форм профессиональной культуры ученых-историков. Заслугой авторов является формирование и детальный анализ базы данных о 280 диссертантах и 409 диссертациях по истории. This book review is devoted to the analysis of the collective monograph ed. by N.N. Alevras and N.V. Grishina “Dissertational culture of the Russian historical scientific community: experience and practice of writing and defending dissertations (XIX – early XX c.)” (2022). The authors examine the regulatory, institutional, methodological, communicative and commemorative aspects of the defense of dissertations in historical sciences in the Russian Empire, study the practices for writing and defending dissertationsas forms of the professional culture of historians. The merit of the authors is the formation and detailed analysis of the database, which includes data on 280 scientists and 409 dissertations in history.
