Abstract (AI)
We propose and demonstrate a methodology to simulate realistic 4D OBN seismic data for typical Brazilian pre-salt oilfield settings. Based on data from an actual baseline and monitor OBN survey recorded in a pre-salt field, we simulate time-lapse data, including several non-repeatability effects (variation in water layer velocity, variation of source and receiver coordinates, clock drift, sea surface reflectivity) and realistic time-lapse rock property variations in the reservoir. To validate our methodology, we compare our results with real 4D seismic data. This methodology may be used to simulate the various sources of 4D noise, calibrated to the region of interest, to develop methods to mitigate them.
Key Findings
1
A methodology was developed to simulate realistic 4D Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) seismic data for Brazilian pre-salt oilfield settings.
2
Realistic time-lapse rock property variations in the reservoir are incorporated into the simulations.
3
Simulations are based on actual baseline and monitor OBN survey data from a pre-salt field, ensuring regional realism.
4
The methodology can be used to simulate and calibrate various sources of 4D noise for a region to develop mitigation methods.
5
The simulated time-lapse data include several non-repeatability effects: water layer velocity variation, source/receiver coordinate variation, clock drift, and sea surface reflectivity changes.
6
Validation against real 4D seismic data demonstrates the methodology's ability to reproduce observed 4D signatures.
