Abstract (AI)
This text deals with the most fundamental deficiency of modern theory control: the lack of an easily applicable method for the design of low order controllers. It shows that solutions to many different problems in control all reduce to the same linear algebra problem. It employs matrix equalities and matrix inequalities in the solutions of fixed order control and also provides computational algorithms.
Key Findings
1
It shows that solutions to many different control problems can be reduced to a common linear algebra problem.
2
The approach uses matrix equalities and matrix inequalities to address fixed-order controller design.
3
The text provides computational algorithms for solving the resulting algebraic control-design problems.
4
The work identifies the lack of easily applicable methods for designing low-order controllers as a fundamental deficiency in modern control theory.
