DNA synthesischromosomal autoradiographychromosome 5cri du chat syndromelate replication
The pattern of DNA synthesis in the chromosomes of Group 4–5 has been analysed in cells from individuals with the cri du chat syndrome. The abnormal chromosome, a No. 5, is one of the pair characterized by relatively early completion of synthesis in the long arms. The two remaining members of this group, characterized by extensive late replication throughout their lengths, therefore may now be recognized as the Nos. 4.
1
Chromosomal autoradiography analyzed DNA synthesis patterns in Group 4–5 chromosomes from individuals with cri du chat syndrome.
2
Replication-timing patterns provide a basis for distinguishing chromosomes 4 and 5 in cells affected by cri du chat syndrome.
3
The abnormal chromosome 5 associated with cri du chat syndrome shows relatively early completion of DNA synthesis in its long arms.
4
The two remaining Group 4–5 chromosomes exhibit extensive late replication along their lengths and can therefore be identified as chromosome 4.
