Abstract (AI)
Key Findings
1
The paper reevaluates Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages in the history of mathematics through the concept of “deuteronomic texts.”
2
The study identifies characteristic features of Western mathematical activity during this period and examines their historical consequences.
3
These features influenced both the evolution of mathematical practices and the changing image of mathematics.
4
“Deuteronomic texts” are defined as works fundamentally dependent on an earlier production.
Research Object
Western mathematical texts and practices from Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages, particularly texts fundamentally dependent on earlier mathematical production ("Deuteronomic texts")
Research Subject
