IgE-mediated allergic reactionTh2 polarizationpollen allergy in children and adolescentssecond-generation antihistamines and topical glucocorticosteroidssubcutaneous and sublingual allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT)
1
Clinical manifestations of pollinosis include allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and bronchial asthma in affected children and adolescents.
2
Cross-reactive allergic reactions to plant-derived foods frequently develop in children and adolescents with pollinosis.
3
Pathogenesis of pollen allergy in children/adolescents is driven by Th0→Th2 differentiation, Th2 activation, and increased IL-4, IL-5, IL-13 production.
4
Pathogenetic pharmacotherapy (second-generation antihistamines, topical glucocorticosteroids, anti-leukotriene agents, decongestants) achieves symptom control in pollinosis.
5
Subcutaneous and sublingual allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT) reduce pollinosis symptom severity and lower the risk of developing bronchial asthma and severe pollen allergy forms.
6
Sublingual ASIT is the safest form of allergen-specific immunotherapy.
7
sIgE synthesis, mast cell, basophil, and eosinophil activation lead to IgE-mediated allergic reactions upon re-exposure to causative pollen allergens.

Pollinosis (pollen allergy) in children and adolescents

Pathogenesis mechanisms (Th0→Th2 differentiation, Th2 activation, increased IL-4/IL-5/IL-13, sIgE production, mast cell/basophil/eosinophil activation, IgE-mediated reactions and cross-reactive food allergies) and therapeutic approaches (second-generation antihistamines, topical glucocorticoids, antileukotrienes, decongestants, subcutaneous and sublingual allergen-specific immunotherapy) for controlling symptoms and reducing asthma risk
