Based on the unique relationship between the water content at fully softened (or approximate critical) state and the average effective confining stress, a method of estimating pore pressure from natural water content in a shear band or tectonically disturbed zone of rnudstone is proposed and some example case histories are presented.
1
A unique relationship links water content at the fully softened or approximate critical state with average effective confining stress in disturbed mudstone.
2
Several case histories are presented to demonstrate application of the proposed pore-pressure estimation method.
3
The method is intended for analyzing disturbed mudstone associated with landslides and squeezing-swelling tunnels.
4
The paper proposes estimating pore pressure from natural water content measured in mudstone shear bands or tectonically disturbed zones.
