The mixer is a critical component in the radio frequency (RF) front-end circuit for wireless communication, with the performance of the balun directly influencing the overall mixer performance. This paper presents the design of a broadband GaAs MMIC double-balanced diode ring mixer. The mixer incorporates a novel broadband balun for both the RF and local oscillator (LO) inputs, along with a diode ring. The proposed mixer demonstrates excellent overall performance, requiring an LO drive power of 18 dBm. It operates efficiently over a broad RF frequency range from 17 GHz to 31 GHz, with a commendable average conversion loss of 7 dB.
