Results of linking research on analysis of the railway vehicle properties with the new design of wheelsets allowing various angular velocities of the tread rotations relative to the wheel centres are considered. On the basis of an analysis performed using the computer model the advantages of the given design connected with the decrease in wear of the wheels and the rails and improvement of the dynamic characteristics are found. The field tests on tram and metro car verified the results received using the models.
