Academician V. M. Alpatov and his linguistic views in the context of research and discoveries of XX-XXI centuries

The linguistic review is devoted to the analysis of the scientific ideas of the greatest Russian typologist, orientalist, theorist and historian of linguistics, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences V. M. M. Alpatov made a great contribution to the formation of the modern image of science.He expanded the field of linguistic research from the comparative typology of oriental languages to the study of contemporary sociolinguistic processes.The ideas of the scientist in the field of theoretical linguistics and linguistic prognostics are discussed.Special attention is paid to V.M. Alpatov's discoveries in the history of linguisticsthe facts of the publication and introduction into scientific circulation of valuable sources related to the period of Marrism, the resurrection of forgotten names of Orientalists, Slavists, comparativists.It is argued that the research published by the scientist has significantly enriched the tools of linguistics with new approaches and solutions.In conclusion, the article summarizes the results and talks about the extraordinary linguistic personality of V.M. Alpatov, who created his own linguistic school.
