Abstract (AI)
In this paper, a method for parallel reprogramming automotive electronic control units that reduces the total reprogramming time is proposed. The method is implemented in an in-vehicle domain control unit which performs the role of the gateway between the backbone network and its own sub-network. We built a test environment that consists of an in-vehicle network system based on Ethernet backbone to measure, analyze and evaluate the reprogramming performance. Experiment results show that the proposed parallel reprogramming method can reduce the total reprogramming time at least 39% compare to the sequential reprogramming method with the increasing number of reprogramming target ECUs connecting different sub-networks.
Key Findings
1
A parallel reprogramming method for automotive ECUs is proposed to reduce total software reprogramming time.
2
An Ethernet-backbone-based in-vehicle network test environment was built to measure and evaluate ECU reprogramming performance.
3
Experiments show that parallel reprogramming reduces total reprogramming time by at least 39% versus sequential reprogramming as the number of target ECUs across subnetworks increases.
4
The method is implemented in an in-vehicle domain control unit serving as a gateway between the Ethernet backbone and its subnetworks.
