Digital Supply Chains are objects of intensive interest from research and practice, as Digital Supply Chains and especially Supply Chain Management promise a wide variety of optimizing potentials. A solution for better visualization and understanding of Supply Chains and an opportunity for further analysis, simulation, and optimization provides the Digital Twin. Hence, researchers put a sizeable research effort into the topic of Digital Twins in the Supply Chain. However, the focus is often blurry, which leads to an unorganized research environment. Against this background, this paper provides a review of research works on Digital Twins in Supply Chains. It aims at answering detailed questions on use cases, purposes, and the level of technological readiness of Digital Twins in Supply Chains.
1
Digital Twins are identified as tools for visualizing and understanding supply chains while enabling further analysis, simulation, and optimization.
2
Existing research on Digital Twins in Supply Chains has a blurry focus, creating an unorganized research environment.
3
Research and practice show strong interest in Digital Supply Chains because of their potential to improve Supply Chain Management.
4
The paper addresses the need to structure and clarify the research landscape on Supply Chain Digital Twins.
5
The review examines Digital Twin use cases, purposes, and technological readiness levels within Supply Chains.
