An efficient and rapid procedure for the synthesis of allyl iodides and bromides from Baylis–Hillman adducts using clay-supported sodium iodide and sodium bromide is described. Improved yields and enhanced rates have been achieved by employing microwave irradiation.
1
Microwave irradiation accelerates the reactions and improves product yields.
2
Montmorillonite clay-supported sodium iodide and sodium bromide efficiently convert Baylis–Hillman adducts into aryl-substituted allyl iodides and bromides.
3
The method enables stereoselective synthesis of both (E)- and (Z)-configured allylic halides.
4
The procedure provides a rapid synthesis route for aryl-substituted allyl halides.
