An analysis of the lateral shearing interferometer is given for laser beams. The results enable a simple determination of the local radius of curvature of the wavefront. In addition, the presence of phase distortion in the beam may be ascertained.
1
The lateral shearing interferometer can be analyzed to provide a simple determination of the local radius of curvature of a laser beam wavefront.
2
The method enables detection and ascertaining of phase distortions present in laser beams.
3
The presented analysis applies specifically to laser beam divergence measurement using a lateral shearing interferometer.
