A Bibliometric Analysis of the Frontier Evolution in Digital Intelligence and City Studies

Given the significant role of digital intelligence technology in advancing cities toward smart city development, research in this area has long been a subject of considerable attention. However, in previous studies, the literature review of this field has been incomplete. Therefore, this study selects 1,151 relevant articles on digital intelligence and city studies published from 1999––2024 in the Web of Science database. Bibliometric software is used to provide a current analysis and future outlook for the fields of digital intelligence and city studies. By dividing the discussion into different stages, the results indicate that the frontier evolution of the hotspots of each research stage extends from the previous stage, making the research more adaptable to technological advancements and changes in urban conditions. With the continuous development of digital intelligent technology and increasing attention to sustainable development goals, cities are moving in a more sustainable direction.
