A LoRa Modulation-Based System Capacity Enhancement Method

This paper proposes a LoRa (Long Range) scheme based on improved index modulation to address the problems of inadequate system capacity, low data rate and poor Bit Error Ratio (BER) performance of index modulation-based LoRa communication systems. The scheme firstly embeds one bit in the conventional LoRa symbol to achieve slope shift keying modulation, then transmits the index combination of the slope shift keying symbol based on the index set obtained through the index mapper, and finally the optimal non-coherent detection algorithm at the receiver is given to realize the system capacity enhancement scheme. Simulation results show that the spectral efficiency, data rate and BER performance of the proposed scheme are better than the existing index-modulated LoRa scheme under the constant modulation bandwidth.
