Introduction. In the context of increased volatility and economic instability, corporate liquidity management becomes a critical priority both in the short term and within a strategic horizon. Asset liquidity functions not only as an indicator of an organization’s current financial condition but also as a determinant of its ability to meet obligations, maintain uninterrupted operations, and preserve investment appeal. The relevance of this study is heightened by the fact that most domestic and international publications address liquidity issues in a fragmented manner, lacking integration with asset management models and failing to consider the cyclical nature of macroeconomic dynamics. Materials and Methods. The study focuses on the financial activities of JSC Concern Energomera, an industrial holding with a complex asset structure. The methodological framework includes structural, comparative, and factor analysis, along with an original classification of liquidity risk zones based on balance sheet proportions between asset groups and liabilities of varying maturities. The research incorporates a comparative assessment of liquidity indicators (net working capital) and asset profitability (net profit) in correlation with different phases of the economic cycle. Results. The evaluation reveals a persistent deficit of cash and cash equivalents over several years, which is not offset by current assets, against the backdrop of rising accounts payable. A phase-related imbalance between liquidity and profitability is documented: both indicators decline during periods of recession and crisis, while liquidity shortages persist even during recovery phases. It is established that the company’s liquidity management policy lacks phase adaptability and fails to provide for dynamic resource reallocation in response to macroeconomic shifts. This results in a structural imbalance of assets by liquidity levels, increasing the risk of delayed obligation fulfillment and weakening the continuity of operational processes. Discussion and Conclusion. A systematic assessment toolkit has been developed, incorporating four key criteria of balance sheet sustainability: the ratio of highly liquid assets to short-term liabilities, asset coverage analysis, liquidity risk zone classification, and alignment with economic cycle phases. The results underscore the need to adapt the current asset management model to address liquidity-related risks. The proposed methodological approach can be effectively applied in corporate financial monitoring, crisis management, and the optimization of resource allocation.
1
Analysis of JSC Concern Energomera reveals persistent shortages of cash and cash equivalents that are not offset by current assets, alongside rising accounts payable.
2
Liquidity and profitability exhibit phase imbalance: both decline during economic downturns and crises, while liquid-asset shortages persist during recovery periods.
3
The corporation’s liquidity-management policy lacks phase adaptability and does not actively reallocate resources in response to changing macroeconomic conditions.
4
The integrated analysis links net working capital and net profit across economic-cycle phases to identify liquidity-management problems within corporate asset management.
5
The study develops a risk-zone classification for liquidity loss based on balance-sheet proportions between assets and liabilities of different maturities.
