Manoeuvring model identification using the vectorized simulated annealing method on full-scale trial data

A new version of the procedure for identification of the parameters of a ship manoeuvring mathematical model is presented. The algorithm presumes minimization of the Euclidean distance between the simulated time records and those obtained in full-scale manoeuvring trials peformed with the simulated annealing method. The algorithm was applied to experimental data obtained with participation of the authors in course of full-scale trials of an Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) operated by the Portuguese Navy. Comparisons between the simulated and observed time histories and trajectories confirmed consisyency and sufficient effectiveness of the devised method.
