Abstract (AI)
The article presents the assessment results of the impact on soils, surface and groundwater, atmospheric air and vegetation cover from decommissioned authorized dumps/landfills of municipal solid waste, which are objects of accumulated environmental harm, located in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. The authors outline that authorized dumps/landfills of municipal solid waste located in the Arctic have a significant impact on the components of the natural environment. Soils, surface and groundwater near dumps/landfills are contaminated with substances of hazard classes I—IV. The content of pollutants in the components of the natural environment in some cases exceeds established standards by tens and hundreds of times. The results presented in the article can be used to improve the legislation of the Russian Federation regarding the assessment and categorization of objects of accumulated environmental harm.
