The Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionizing the pharmaceutical industry by integrating smart, connected devices across research, manufacturing, supply chains, and patient care. IoT enables real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and precise data collection, improving operational efficiency, minimizing errors, and ensuring compliance with regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR. In research and development, IoT improves data accuracy, supports remote monitoring, and accelerates drug discovery and preclinical trials. In manufacturing, predictive maintenance and environmental monitoring ensure consistent product quality, while IoT-enabled cold chain systems and GPS-integrated RFID tracking have reduced vaccine spoilage by up to 15 % in recent deployments. Blockchain integration further enhances transparency and traceability. In patient care, IoT innovations such as smart pills, connected inhalers, and wearable devices improve treatment adherence and enable proactive, personalized healthcare. However, challenges remain, including data security, regulatory complexities, and high initial investment costs. Future advancements will involve deeper IoT integration with artificial intelligence and blockchain to deliver predictive analytics, precision medicine, and enhanced supply chain visibility. With its transformative potential, IoT is set to redefine the pharmaceutical model toward a more efficient, patient-centered, and compliant industry.
