The possibility of using titanium sludge, which is a finely-dispersed waste with high content of titanium dioxide TiO 2 and calcium fluoride CaF 2 in the construction industry as an agent replacing cement binder and improving the properties of concrete composition, is considered. The properties of modified concretes with different percentage of binder replacement were studied, the characteristics of strength, porosity and water absorption were determined according to standardized methods, and the composition showing the best characteristics was revealed. The mechanism of the effect of the main waste compounds on concrete is described.
1
A specific composition (binder replacement percentage) was identified that produced the best concrete characteristics among those tested.
2
Finely-dispersed titanium production sludge, rich in TiO2 and CaF2, can be used in construction as a partial replacement for cement binder.
3
Modified concretes with varying percentages of binder replacement were experimentally studied for strength, porosity, and water absorption using standardized methods.
4
The paper describes a mechanism by which the sludge's main compounds (TiO2 and CaF2) affect concrete properties.

Finely-dispersed titanium production waste (titanium sludge rich in TiO2 and CaF2) used as an additive/replacement for cement binder in concrete

Effects of partially replacing cement binder with the titanium production waste on concrete properties: strength, porosity, water absorption, and the underlying mechanism of action of TiO2 and CaF2-containing compounds
